Hogar (Spanish) / Llar (Catalan) means HOME in English, but in this project was not refered to a dwelling or living space, but to the concept of "home" as a place to which we belong. This sound installation is born from the exploration of this concept through oral history, by asking various questions related to the home to anonymous people of different ages.

The answers were very different, although all very intimate and unique, some fun, some focused on the house as a space and some on the home as a kind of nest and safe space. Since all the answers were valid, and that they express personal opinions, the present piece has a non-linear narrative.

In the final audio editing for the installation, I mixed all the stories together so that these audios represent a wide range of feelings and thoughts within what is called home. The result is a sound collage and a journey through different emotions around the home: joy and love, family and friendship, but also nostalgia, fear, loneliness.

The Architectural model of the piece"Hogar/Llar", have three audio sources or listening points, in which you can listen with headphones to the oral histories recorded earlier this year in various settlements, including: the Santa Mònica Arts Center and the University of Barcelona Faculty of Fine Arts, and a field recording made on the street in the L'Eixample area of Barcelona.

The sound installation was presented in Fabra i Coats Center (Barcelona) within the framework of the Mixtur Festival and as part of the Home.Music.Europe project and Residency.

Although all the opinions and stories are singular, there is a common thread since all the people asked live in the same city (Barcelona), which is why the installation represents a building in the style of the L'Eixample area (the area most populated) of Barcelona.

The audios that can be heard in the installation have altered voices, in order to separate the story from a persona and give importance to the narrative as a whole.

The model is inspired by and based on typical buildings in the Eixample District area of Barcelona.

This area is one of the most populated and one of the most popular, for being in the middle of the city map. For this reason, many of the people who participated and answered the questions about the home reside in this area.

The Eixample is also characterized by having many shared apartments, and therefore, it is the home of many young people.

In addition to the oral histories collected (recorded) in the project, I also wanted to be able to have the audio of a street in this area. Specifically, a street with a very large park on a street where I lived several years ago.
