Basketball Billboard was a project who intended to take advantage of public space through the re-use of existing structures in it in order to give these spaces and the power back to the citizens.

I intervine construction billboard signs  in various locations all over the city of Berlin. The selected banners were the ones used by private companies to inform about the urban developments that they carry out in that place in terms of budgets, duration, etc... 

These kind of billboards were all over the city, and I found that these structures in themselves affected the landscape and circulation of its surroundings, especially due to its disproportionate size; creating a zero dialogue with the residents of the area, in addition to the general indifference to said "improvement" of the environment. 

The Basketball billboard approach of these urban structures was a project that tried, as a matter of example, to show how a small object (a basketball hoop) can change the environment and create new situations and relationships between the inhabitants of the area. 

This work became a space for reflection, but also a meeting place for children and young people who wanted to practice sports. 

Basketball Billboard started as a piece of artistic and citizen insurrection and as a way of establishing a dialogue with the city, its environment and its structures/spaces. It was a project that was only going to be a small punctual intervention, but the response to this piece was very intense from the inhabitants of the city, for which reason I decided to continue intervening in various posters over the course of several years.
